Thank you very much Catalin. I’ll give you my first born. So this was happening at the end of the 70’s and Bowie shot a nice ad for a sake brand. All nice and swell ’till someone recorded the ad that was playing on a TV with a cam. The effect is, how can I say this, something like Decomposing Ad Factory. Noise, meet advertising. Advertising, meet noise. Good, good, now make children, darnit! If any of you guys out there know more info about the ad, please drop me a line, either here or on my mail. Thanks. via
Most of you know all about Belle de Jour and how, from a blogger, she/he became a huge commercial success after being published by a big publishing house. For those of you who don’t, here are a couple of useful links: Read the rest of this entry »
Some people say they’re indie, some people say they’re noise (I disagree at the “noise” part, there are other bands that fit into the category) . To be on the safe side (and not say anything, really) let’s just go with the “post punk” label and be done with it. They were formed in 1993 and are still together now, singing happily and joyfully for the trashy generation. Go buy their records, you’re in for a treat, you beautiful strangers…
AdPrint is “the only European festival that rewards creative teams for great print advertising” as they say on their website. The festival reached its 8th edition, the third full European one after 5 regional competitions. The festival was dominated by Publicis Conseil who won the “Golden Team” award, followed by McCann Erickson (Romania) (”Silver Team”) and 1861 united (Italy) with the “Bronze Team” award. Here are some of the winners, by categories (for the rest, make sure to check the AdPrint website :
I know this is pretty old news for the ones that hunt good movies but for the sake of the readers that haven’t yet seen this one it should be a good thing to hear about it. Sooo, Harmony Korine (script co-writer for Ken Park and Kids, director of Julien Donkey-Boy) directs and writes this one.
Why you should see it:
- a glimpse into a quintessential town in the south of the USA (it’s filled with the “redneck” clichee but oh so twisted)
- non-hollywood movie philosophy
I will start this first post with an 80’s band that I very much enjoy, thank you. Cocteau Twins. Although they separated in 1996 and although they never made it to MTV (that’s a big plus in my book, MTV sucks) they still managed to influence the musical landscape in subtle yet discernable ways. Plus I love them, and that should be enough for anybody to go get their albums and listen to them obsessively.
